Hoffman Construction, along with Lunda and Shafer Contractors, will work together on the design-build project in Oronoco, MN.  Shafer will be the concrete paving contractor and will be providing the gravel and granular borrow.

 

 The site is roughly ten miles north of Rochester, MN.  Several at-grade intersections make this heavy volume and high speed highway a safety concern.  In addition the current northbound bridges are in need of replacement.  Improvements to Hwy 52 will include:   a diamond interchange at 112/12(S); an overpass at 12 (N); new mainline bridges over Lake Shady; frontage road construction; and access control measures to improve safety.

HCC?s area supervisor for this project is Ron Overlien.  Shawn LaFaunge is the construction manager, and Chad Johnson is the assistant project manager - roadways.

During excavation, a variety of soil conditions will be encountered including rock, silt, and marsh.  This project has 1.3 million CY of dirt to move.  A couple of scraper crews, an offroad crew, an on-road crew, and a pipe crew will  be deployed by HCC this year.  Clearing and grubbing will start in early April with the project completion set for December 2007.
